2DCHOONZ.

well, i am getting WORRIED. im so scared about this pitch on friday.. i know i have a great team with me in Ceri and Adam but im jus feeling so so nervous!
i never get nervous when doing public speeches but this feels different :-s
any way, the bible is slowly coming together, a few more pages and it will be done and i rekon it looks grrrreat, we're going to do the pitch with a powerpoint which Adam has done, ahhh. as soon as the bibles done ill post some pix, yeh ;)

Exeter Ident

we have been asked to animate the Exeter Ident this year and I decided that I wanted to help create the set and do some back ground design heres some of my background shots,
Alex came up with the initial idea and design and I coloured, layered and textured them, I also did the clock face which unfortunantly i dont have pictures of.







Charlotte and Me also helped Ben with the set for the stop mo.



It was quite un organised but me and charlotte did what we could to contribute even tho in the end it was ben who did most of it, we kind of felt like spare parts, just waiting for glue and grouting to dry! but the end result was really good. :)

A NeW tErM

WELL. its been ages, really enjoying my second year, Ive been doing two projects recently, one with Adam and Ceri and one with the whole class.
2DCHOONZ- 2d choonz is an idea i came up with to combine home made tunes and home made animation :) its an online communtity were like minded people can meet up and collaborate, Ive really enoyed working on this project as it can go in so many directions, the initial idea was mine and ive helped design the logo and decided the overall look of the website, im now in charge of putting together the bible which has been interesting, ive loved working with Ceri and Adam both are really hard working, and i glad ive got to work with Ceri again.
ANIMATEDEXETER- this is the group project, at first Laura Holly Charlo and I choose to create a day event for the festival, ive enjoyed doin it but Ive realised its actually quite hard work, and a lot more than just phoning up random people to come to your day, the girls were really keen to send emails out as soon as we got the brief but I told them to slow down.
I thought it would make sense to create an email address for all of us to use rather then send them out from random ones, i also suggested we use basically the same email for all the clients we were interested in contacting, they did this and the emailing began, I dont know why but ive felt slightly left out of this part of the project.. not alot of work got given to me and i am constantly asking what has an hasnt been done.. it feels like lack of communication... maybe four people is to many to create an event?
Any way, I am glad to be part of the ident, Charlo and me helped Ben create some of the set form the stop frame part of the work going to his house for 3 days, i enjoyed what we did and it was great seeing the set come together but Charlo and me felt a bit useless, I dont think it was well thought out,things like glueing and grouting should of been done before we made the effort to show up, it made the work process slow, one day we spent about an hour drying the set with the oven! I also decided to help with the backgrounds, as it is an area in animation i am very interested in, Alex drew out the design and it was up to me to colour and texture it, GREAT FUN i thought but it really isnt, (at the minute) the producers are all telling me different things and when you do something it isnt liked and you have to start again, i understand this is how it is in the real world but its very frustrating!
I wish someone would give me a straight answeron what to do rather than sending me to and fro-ing with each producer. any way, im nearly there! half way there in fact, ill put some pix up when im done :)

SoUnD

hey, after this first year ive decided i really want to get into editing and sound etc. Andy asked me to watch a few films and to listen to the sound. I recently watched an awesome film called Night Watch.



its a russian film and was made in 2004 and is the first part of a trilogy, (followed by Day Watch and Twilight Watch-which is due for release in 2009) It an awesome film with some stunning SFX and the sound is amazing, Theres one particular scene were the main character Anton, is making a drink and every single sound jus sounds amazing, I cant describe it any other way but the sound guys on this film knew exactly what they were doing and it all creates a great sense of atmosphere, i personally dont think the film would be as good as it is if it wasnt for the sound :) check it out! here a trailer for u all.. im such a nerd.. :)

End of Term

So scarey our first year is over. cant believe this time last year I'd been offered a place its crazy how fast time flys!! Im looking forward to wat the second year has in store for us. and im looking forward to expanding our class with first years!
cant waaaaaaaaaaait for summer though, im spending it down here with holly and charlotte in our girls house. cant wait :) ARRGH im so excited about EVERYTHING :D

Heloooo

End of term is finally here so I thought id write another blog.
My animation foR Moonut was so frustrating, Im not particularly good with flash but i wanted to challenge myself. the end result is alrite but needs a lot of work.

Im goin to submit it in my moving portfolio but Im not ready for it to be given to the client just yet, (it was a 'backup') any way so im not to worried about it.

overall ive really enjoyed having group discussions and creating storyboards, and ive loved watching other people animate to my storyboards :)

This experience has given me a little taste in what it would be like to work in a studio and ive really enjoyed myself :D

hello.

recently Charlotte asked me to produce animatics for my storyboards, at first I was a bit unsure because I had forgotten how to use premiere but once i got back into it i discovered it was kind of like riding a bike and i hadnt forgotten at all :) I also used sound and found the sound effects and music I wanted on a royalty free website http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/pir/PIRsfx.shtml it has a wide variaty for free and is really simple to use :)

DeAtHnOtE

Deathnote is an anime which i am obsessed with, there are 37 episodes spread over two series and im currently on episode 6 of series 2, its really really good, and is soo gripping. the episodes ALWAYS end on a cliff hanger which is irritating but a good way to keep you watching, they are based on graphic novels and there are also two live action movies mixed with CGI out now which i saw a few weeks ago and they are amazing ;)

random bits

Hello.
had our other pitch with james yesterday and we were all very happy that he really liked our storyboards and genrell ideas.
i was especially chuffed as he seemed to really like my idea on how to improve the 'Royale Meal' design :) i had to redraft my story boards but seeing as i enjoy doing them i didnt mind and i suppose its more work for my portifolio at the end of the day. I kind of wish the grouos were are assigned to now are the groups that we will be staying in because i would really like to see this project through. although actuall animating isnt really my strong point, i prefer pre and post production to be honest! :D

been working on our final project recently and im really enjoying it, i like doing storyboarding an coming up with ideas so im in my element, charlottes a very good producer, shes very organised and is always making sure the team fully understands whats going on and what we should be doing, :D

MAYA

hmmm... maya. i think i might be changing my mind slightly on this programme... but i have found the flour sack and creating the moving ball task quite enjoyable and very informative. the more i use maya the more i feel comfortable and i actually find it easier animating in maya than in flash which i never thought i would say, i think i will attempt to complete the online tutorials so i feel more confident but i am very pleased with my flour sack attempt because when we were set the task i was filled with dread.. but it wasnt that bad :) and i actually feel like ive achieved something which is always good :D

Ident Project

The OSTN company in America asked us if we would make some idents for their television show.
I worked with Holly and we decided to take on the film ident, we came up with an idea to create a cinema were pieces of popcorn would be the main characters.
we created a 3d background using card board and plastecine and then photographed it, we then used flash to animate our popcorn and the cinema screen.

the project went really well and our animatics and final animation are very similer.
we didnt really have any problems which was good, and i really enjoyed using flash again, i think my favourite part of the work process was creating the 3d characters which were in our cinema!
overall im very pleased with the result and i think holly and myself worked well together and maganed our time well.

Bits of everything!!

Havnt been on here for a while... :) neways, loads has been going on, we have had to make tv grapics for the broadcasting students 'live at 5', I was made the producer of my my team which included Mike Ceri and Sean, We came up with an idea to drop blue ink inot water after seeing it lots of examples of work on the internet, we used a macro camara and made a mini set and began filming the ink which in the turned out better than any of us thought,

At first we were told that we were the first team and that we only had two days to complete everything so we were very stressed and we all worked really hard trying to get our heads around after effects (which i still dont really understand!) eventually we were tiold that we wernt the first griup and we were all a little annoyed but relieved.

Yesterday weas when we actually had to do live at 5 and it went ok, i was getting very annoyed at the producer of the broadcasting students because she only came in once and didnt actually seem bothered about anything, all other members of her team were coming in constantly telling us what they needed and by when they needed it.

The broadcast went ok, I was annoyed that they mucked up our title sequence and the fact they brought some of our tables ie.sports and weather far to late so they just looked blank making it reflect badly on us! all in all i enjoyed working ina team but i hated the lack of effort from some of the broadcasters, I dont think i would like to get into this area of work anymore, its difficult stressful and not very rewarding!

Anothor project we are currently doing is an Ident project for a channel in america. My and my partner Holly have choosen to do the film Ident and have come up with avery idea involving popcorn,we are using photo stills, and flash to animate in and i think it will look great once finished.

Flash

I LOVE FLASH, Ive had it on my lap top 4 a while but never knew how to use it, I thought yesterdays lectures was one of my favourites, it gave us all a chance to create quick but effective animations while learning how to use a tool used so much in this industry, I was wary about using the tab to draw with as ive heard its difficult to get into but i really enjoyed it and will be buying one for my laptop, Im really looking forward to using flash more often, it just seems like a really versitile tool and im excited about learning more from it and creating lots of intresting stuff!
